In this new creation, La Nòvia collective takes on pieces by composer Colon Nancarrow written for the player piano. The rhythmic processes and timbral interplay at work in Nancarrow's music had a profound impact on Guilhem Lacroux and Yann Gourdon, who decided to transpose and arrange some of his studies for La Nòvia's instrumentarium.
The programme is completed by a commission from electronic musician and sound artist Jessica Ekomane, who has created pieces that resonate with her own work, the identity of the collective and the work of Colon Nancarrow.
