Moving beyond the idea of an event shared between musician and spectators, Yann Gourdon creates sound which imposes itself in a space, subjects it to a process, a progressive and mechanical causal law which depends neither on the performer nor on the composition. If the composer decides on the process and the performer triggers it, the process only considers the environment as a whole.
The process creates the zone. Or is it the other way around? The zone as a possible new place in which the relationship between audience and space are altered, like the walker who must first throw a pebble before he can cross the field.
A belted landscape.
